Family Events
Here at Foothills Unitarian Church, we believe that we build community in fellowship. We are happy to offer numerous Family Events throughout the year, providing opportunities to gather with other families in our congregation.
Family Fridays - every 2nd Friday of the month 5:30—8:30 pm
Join us as we gather in community, expanding the concept of family to include not only parents with children, but singles, seniors and youth, making deeper connections with each other. Every Family Friday will begin with a catered or potluck dinner followed by multigenerational activities: board games, sock hops, talent night, drumming and more.
YFF (Young Family Fellowship)
All families with young children are invited to gather for potlucks, outings and morning playgroups on the first and third Wednesday mornings of the month at 9:30 am. Contact Charly Bratt: charly.bratt@gmail.com
MUUMS (Mostly UU Moms)
Gather with other mothers on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month for exploration of interesting topics and special events. Contact Kerri South: kerrisouth@comcast.net
Pumpkin Carving Night – Sunday, October 29th 5:30—8:00 pm
Join us to carve pumpkins, eat ice cream, and enjoy a spook house made by our 4th & 5th graders. For the grand finale we light the pumpkins and sing together.
Day of the Dead Multigenerational Service – Oct 30th 9:00 & 11:00 am
We will gather to build an altar of remembrance in celebration of our departed loved ones. Music, stories and cultural background will be included in this service for all ages.
Holiday Craft Workshop – December 11th 2:00—5:00 pm
Another favorite for church families … The Holiday Craft Workshop features 15 stations where children can make holiday crafts to give as gifts or decorate their homes.
Family Christmas Eve Service – December 24th 5:00 & 7:00 pm
Our Christmas Eve services at 5pm and 7pm feature readings, music and a holiday pageant starring, you guessed it, our Foothills UU families.
Earth Day Multigenerational Service – April 2nd 9:00 & 11:00 am
Celebrate our seventh principal of respect for the web of life at this service for all ages with songs, stories readings and more.
Easter Sunday Hunt & Service – April 8th 9:00 & 11:00 am
Children hide and hunt for canned goods and receive an Easter treat bag. They join the adults for a Children’s Processional and the gift of a flower at the end of the church service.
Coming of Age Service — Saturday May 12th 8:00 pm
Our 7th graders will create their own Coming of Age service for their friends and family. All are welcome to join us for this moving celebration.
Flower Communion Service—Sunday June 3rd 9:00 & 11:00am
Celebrate the season and sharing of community in this uniquely UU ritual. Bring flowers from home to gather in shared vases. The children will pass out the flowers during the service, asking each person to take a different flower home.
